My husband and I bought a very nice little 2 bedroom cottage and planned to connect it to the garage. This additional space would provide a shop for him and a studio and gallery for me and a guest room. I lost my husband and have not been able to reach around such changes emotionally or financially but do think it is a needed change, if ~ore than one lady is to be comfortable in this house. As I understand it, if PDSMPis adopted any additional building would have to be on the current footprint and that could only be done by me, not some future owner of the property. This would have tremendous impact on my future. 1. I am a very responsible stewart of the property and proud of the mating pair of eagles on my bank. I think building up would be far more invasive into their space than connecting at ground level. 2. I do plan to marry again and would like to be able to stay here in this house. However, I cannot see beginning such a change or financing it within the probable deadline. 3. One of the things that made this house acceptable to my husband and me was that there was 3/4 of an acre with a small amount of the land in use and the proposed addition would use only the part of the yard currently invested in sidewalks and driveway and a small amount of the flower beds. None of what I would call the green space would be tapped. We bought this house and its potential. Any new owner would not be able to buy the same and would have to accept it as it is. It's potential would be lost. It seems that I need to sell as soon as possible to allow another owner to buy the potential. As an older woman, this house is key to myoId age security and this is not the time I would want to have to sell. I hope you can see why I feel quite threatened. Please, let me know if I am misunderstanding anything, and, please, since bureacracy almost nevers undoes things, take all the time needed to get it right and not make this a resident unfriending place to live.
