The arbitrary decisions about stairs to the beach, vegetation, and the necessity to go through expensive permit applications to be able to POSSIBLY make changes to an existing structure, a permit that will expire in 5 years...all these things and more hit me in the face when I returned home after an absence. I strenuously object to having my property rights taken away, and having my property devalued by many of these regulations, especially when I suspect none of the persons making these rulings have waterfront property themselves. How do I know what I can afford to do in the way of remodeling, etc. in the next few years? I will have to spend up to $500 to get permits just on the chance that I MAY need or want to make changes. My property was recently re- assessed for tax purposes, and went up sharply. If these measures take effect, will the assessment immediately be lowered to take in account the loss of value due to such restrictive rulings? I don't think so! Sign me worried and angry.
