Dear Lodging Tax Advisory Council
Please approve the inclusion of the funding request for the County PFD in your review this Friday.
The PFD and a new mid county aquatic center ARE indeed tourism. Tourism that our County has been missing out on because it has none to offer.
A regulation pool will be of interest for competitive water sports be they competitive swim, synchronized swim, watervolley ball and the like. It provides an additional attraction, particularly
for non-summer tourists who visit our local area for weddings, vacations, weekend get aways, relax-cations, maritime training such as rescue, scuba, etc.
I know that a swimming pool is always one attraction that my family, and many of my friends seek, when booking our time away It is a low cost, whole family, low impact way to relax and
exercise. It is a great way to meet locals as the people at a pool are always friendly.
I travel to out-of-area pools on a regular basis, shopping and dining around that activity. The closest pool for us is 45 minutes away, and most are an hour or more. Not only will a
pool invite others to our community, but it will encourage locals to enjoy a staycation rather than travel elsewhere.
thank you.
