Hi all,
My name is Drew Estep, the Senior Political Advisor with the Washington State Democratic Party. As a vacancy in the State Senate position was created with the early retirement of Senator
Van De Wage in October, the Party, to fill our constitutional authority to produce a recommended list of nominees, and by rules approved by our State Central Committee, has produced
a list of nominees to fill this Senate vacancy in rank order. These individuals are:
1.
Mike Chapman
2.
Bruce Cowan
3.
Jennie Peterson
Additionally, because this list contains a sitting member of the house, we have produced an additional list of nominees for the house position. In rank order those individuals are:
1. Adam Bernbaum
2. Christy Holy
3. Marty Gilmore
The Senate vacancy occurred on October 4, 2024, which means that the County Commissions have the ability to select from this party list until December 3rd, 2024 (60 days following the
vacancy). Should the joint County Commissions not act on the Party's list of nominees then the Governor will appoint from the list of nominees.
