Commissioners,
On September 17, 2024, I forwarded an email attachment highlighting a need for funds for a specific project at Port Townsend Little League's leased facility. Our lease with the county
holds our organization responsible for the ongoing care and maintenance of the facility, but some items stretch our ability to meet that goal. East Jefferson & South Jefferson Little
League hold similar agreements with the county. The September letter lets the commission know how the damage to the facility came about and requested a dollar amount which did not
exceed our out-of-pocket expenses to remedy the damage.
PTLL has an enormous list of items to be repaired or replaced within the next few months and years. We have six (6) dugouts in various states of disrepair. Two of these dugouts are
unsafe for the upcoming season and will need to be repaired immediately. The concession stand, which is made of cinder block and is on a solid concrete slab is severely settling on
the East side. The settling is causing major cracking and a drop of more than an inch in that end of the structure. We are seeking a company to perform a slab jack or filling under
the slab to stop this from worsening and maintain the buildings integrity.
Our concession stand food service area is grossly outdated. With the completion of the bathroom project and the addition of a new storage container for our uniforms and equipment, I
have changed my focus to upgrading the concession stand during the winter months, and in the spring, we'll begin repairing dugouts before the season begins at the end of March.
Please consider the donation of $1000 to PTLL to reimburse for the bathroom repair/renovation. Facing more than $10,000 in necessary upgrades and repairs this season, those funds back
in our account would go a long way to ensuring another important project is able to be addressed.
If your schedules permit, please consider meeting with me at the ballfields for a walkthrough. I am very flexible with my schedule. I'd enjoy the opportunity to show each of you, firsthand,
what the condition and needs truly are at PTLL to ensure your support for a strong program for the children of our community for many years to come.
Most Respectfully,
Terry Taylor
