I wrote to a county official about the poor decision to have the last Public Hearing on the new Shreline Master Plan on
June 3, during the heart of the bridge closure, stating that it would be extremely difficult for folks to come to the hearing.
The official responded that since the number of folks who owned property along the shoreline in Jefferson County that
were from out of town as 'the minority' it wasn't an issue. Let me tell you this: I have been making mailing lists of property
owners who own vacant lots, have mobiles on lots, or cabins on lots - all waterfront and valuable -- so I decided to look
through and see exactly what percentage this 'minority' was. Well, the 'minority' is over 50%. This means that 50% of the
property owners whose property will be very definitely and negatively affected by this plan will not be able, with any sort of
ease, to attend the public hearing. I think it is unconscionable of the County to hold the Public Hearing on this date - but
probably typical. Barbara Blowers
