However, I'm not sure the SMP can address those issues. Is there a specific section of the Preliminary Draft SMP proposal you feel needs attention? Hope you two are well as Spring approaches, Michelle <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Michelle McConnell, Associate Planner - LRP Lead Shoreline Master Program (SMP) Update Project Manager Direct: 360.379.4484 Web: http://wVjw.co.iefterson.wa.us!commdeveIopment/.ShorelinePlanning.htm NEW OFFICE HOURS: 9 a - 4:30 p Monday - Thursday; Closed on Friday <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> NOTE: All e-mail sent to this address will be received by the Jefferson County e-mail system and are subject to Public Disclosure undl/f Chapter 42.56 RCW. The agenda is online at http://www.co.iefferson.wa.us/com mdevelopme nt/PDFS/PCAgenda/2009%20Agendas/PC%20Agenda%2002- 25-09 Spec%20mtg.pdf. They intend to discuss Beach Access Structures and Boating Facilities. Yesterday, the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) received the Planning Commission letter of request for a 90-day timeline extension. BoCC delayed taking action on that request until DCD staff and the County Administrator can present additional information on the schedule & budget implications. This is anticipated in the next few weeks. Also, two efforts at new State legislation are underway that could affect shoreline planning & management: . Companion bills HB 1970 & SB 5836 propose to eliminate the County from reviewing proposals for marine transport facilities for sand/gravel mining operations, leaving WA Dept of Natural Resources as sole authority. The bills are written to focus only on Jefferson County by definition of population and location. HB 1653 is proposed by WA Departments of Ecology and Community, Trade & Economic Development (CTED) and supported by the WA Assn. of Ports to clarify the relationship between Growth Management Act Critical Areas regulations and Shoreline Management Act Shoreline regulations. This is in light of the Anacortes/Futurewise decision by State Supreme Court which is awaiting action on a Motion for Reconsideration.
