1) when will these changes go into effect
The County anticipates sending a locally approved SMP to Ecology by October 30, 2009. It is unknown how long
Ecology will take to complete their process, but they took 18 months in Whatcom County. The changes would not
go into effect until the County takes final action after Ecology completes their review. I would not expect changes
to be in effect until 2010.
2) Where can I get the changes if they are on the web
The Preliminary draft SMP is available online at:

9.htm# Preliminary Draft SMP (PDSMP) Currently, the Planning Commission is deliberating and making
changes. DCD will make their edited version available once they make it available to us. Then the PC will hold
another public hearing on their revised draft before making a recommendation to the SOCC.
3) These are county changes and not imposed by federal or state requirements.
The state has mandated updates to Shoreline Master Programs. The County proposed action is to comply with
state requirements. See RCW 90.58.080.

Stacie how are you? It must be crazy. Thank you for all your hard work. I am inquiring about the
changes to the Shoreline. I have heard all the rumors.
So if you could help me out in:
1) when will these changes go into effect
2) Where can I get the changes if they are on the web
3) These are county changes and not imposed by federal or state requirements.
It would be most appreciated if you could help me out or point me to where I can refer to.
