So city hall after much pressure decided Monday eve at 6pm had a meeting including about housing. They even announced it on Facebook, good for them. However they failed to specifically
go around and invite marginalized disenfranchised homeless folks who are the most vulnerable and in most need of housing especially this time of year. Most homeless folks are not tech
savvy, they don't follow the city county websites even If they are. They wait for the news on the streets. I speak to council members and I am homeless and I was not invited. So
even though Jefferson county is number one by double and one half to the next highest county in Washington State for homeless folks per capita they could not be bothered to invite a
large chunk of their most needy constituents to a meeting on housing, many who have been repeatedly data collected on ,are on housing waiting list for years. Yet I know one homeless
woman who chanced on it on Facebook and went brave soul and even spoke. It's pretty clear that when it comes to housing the government doesn't care about the opinions of their most
vulnerable constituents and doesn't want to hear from them. County after county, city after city, state after state, these are the patterns of government. Please read the lyrics to
Tom Waits song "Hoist That Rag" ( and give it a listen) government chooses segregation over democracy, criminalize homeless when they are the architects and engineers of ignorance and
indifference and just make things worse because they just don't care. If you want to deal with a problem the only essential ingredient is care, which is what government lacks. Are
the garbage, can we toss them, are the too toxic for the landfill?
