SUBJECT: WORKSHOP re: Naming a new trail section from the Hood Canal Bridge to a
point somewhere on the existing Olympic Discovery Trail -
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
On September 26, 2024, Jeffrey Bohman wrote the Board of County Commissioners regarding naming a
new section of trail being made possible through a successful RAISE grant application.
ANALYSIS:
The new trail section will connect the Hood Canal Bridge to an as of yet to be determined point somewhere
along the existing Olympic Discovery Trail. In his letter and speaking on behalf of the Peninsula Trails
Coalition as their Board President he recommends that the new section be named the Olympic Discovery
Trail. He is asking that the Board take some sort of official action such as approving a resolution adopting
the chosen name.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This request has no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board conduct the workshop, discuss the Peninsula Trails Coalition
recommendation and decide on a name for the new trail section. Should the Board wish staff could bring a
resolution adopting the name to a subsequent Board meeting.
