Photo by iStock.com/BlueBarronPhoto Dear John, Grizzly bears once roamed this country from the Pacific Coast to the Great Plains, but the population of this iconic American species in the lower 48 states was almost completely eradicated by the 1930s. Thanks to their protection under the Endangered Species Act since 1975, grizzlies have begun to recover, but their future remains uncertain. Right now, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is considering removing federal protections for grizzly bears in the lower 48. Delisting these iconic animals would disrupt their progress towards recovery and undo decades of hard conservation work. Tell the Fish and Wildlife Service to maintain and strengthen grizzly bear protections! <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=7cc25c3a8e00238279b1b9811783ead5a2fb7fa85bac628d77b07d18d02315a06f5ba9d 83a3932446b2fe4fae562d7f294dcdecaa2b68c2fb22281b570e19290> Grizzly bears are an essential part of the American West, a wildlife icon that has been integral to our country for centuries. They embody true wilderness. State and federal agencies must commit to strengthening protections -- not weaken them -- to ensure the survival of this keystone species. Send an urgent message today to tell the Fish and Wildlife Service to strengthen grizzly bear protections instead of delisting them! <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=7cc25c3a8e002382ce53433ec8 19030c234cbe35e95c31d08e6f263433ae22572caa1afe3b3fe0f2d0bf98b182cfd7074424d0d76e9d7e7aad079c90c23c955d> Thank you for all you do for wildlife.
