After so many years of careful study, so many hearings, so many concerned citizens devoted to the Life of the
Puget Sound, it is sad to think that a few narrow interests, well funded and well organized, can call in question
science and common sense to defend private and personal advantage over the common good. We, the ordinary
people of the region, whose lives are touched by questions beyond property rights, and who pray for responsible
and conscientious government, ask you to hear our voices, and to do what is necessary for the good, for the
future, for our children, and for posterity.
