We have learned that the Commission has recently stepped away from important safeguards proposed in a draft citizen's committee document. These safeguards must be reinstated. 150-foot buffers for ALL county shorelines must be included in the final SMP. Dropping or reducing safeguards on 60 miles of county shorelines will have unacceptable, irreversible enviromental consequences. Language permitting unregulated aquaculture on rural beaches must be removed from the SMP, and provisions for net pens should be discarded. We appreciate the opportunity to comment, and will be watching very carefully the outcome of this coming week's hearing and your subsequent deliberations. Thank you. Sincerely, /s/ Robert A.
