As a former Seattle residents who experienced the damage caused to the West Seattle Bridge
by a barge. . . and as present Port Ludlow residents who feel pride for our new Hood Canal
Bridge.. .we don't understand how daily shipping through this bridge can even be considered
by Jefferson
County. Don't accept more damage to our already threatened Hood
Canal.
Please, consider how much destruction can be caused by allowing the latest version of the
Jefferson County Shoreline Master Plan to continue to permit gravel mining conveyors,
piers and barge loading on our conservancy shoreline - even within Hood Canal.
We must prohibit mining use and development, including conveyors, piers, and barge loading
structures on conservancy shorelines within Jefferson County.
We respectfully request you to prohibit all such activities on any Jefferson County
shoreline on Hood Canal.
