Subject: Jefferson County Shoreline Master Plan
I understand that Kitsap County prohibits mining and development activities on conservancy shorelines whereas the latest
version of the Jefferson County Shoreline Master Plan continues to permit gravel mining conveyors, piers and barge loading on our
conservancy shoreline - even within Hood Canal.
This, in my opinion, should not be. Mining and development activities endanger fisheries and wildlife habitats and despoil otherwise pristine areas - one of the
factors that led me to move to Port Ludlow. Shoreline mining-related activities, including crushing, screening, washing, stockpiling,
and loading on ships or barges should occur only within well-defined high intensity shoreline zones. All such activities should be
prohibited on any Jefferson County shoreline on Hood Canal.
Please amend the Shoreline Master Plan so as to protect and preserve Hood Canal from predator activities which threaten our
quality of life.
Sincerely,
George M. Johnson
