While the initial attraction of development and creation of industry is attractive please take a moment and consider the potential for long term ramifications of your decisions. The hood canal is a unique area that both your county and mine (I live in Kitsap) are adjacent to what we do affects you and you do affects us" please consider the amount of recreation revenue that the canal and its environs generate for all the adjacent areas. Barges loaded with gravel coming and going may not seem like such a bad thing but where they come from may be. Many harbors in the US are infected with introduced species that are causing environmental and economic havoc. Please consider this it only takes once, one time, One ship emptying its ballast tanks into the canal to take on a load of gravel and it will be too late. Please, please, please consider this because once done it cannot be undone. Respectfu lIy, Edgar C. Draper III 6/15/2009
