To the Planning Commission:
I write to urge you to vigorously protect the environment of the Jefferson County shorelines as you update the county's
master shoreline program. While it may seem difficult to achieve a proper balance between private interests and the public
good, without a healthy environment, we have neither. Our shorelines are one of our most valuable resources - for wildlife,
water quality, community enjoyment, and tourism attraction. Protecting the shoreline environment of our county benefits all
of us, even those whose private interests may be moderately restricted by those protections.
