Subject: Jefferson County Shoreline Master Plan
I understand that the current version of the Jefferson County Shoreline Master Plan continues to
permit gravel mining conveyors, piers and barge loading on our conservancy shoreline - even
within Hood Canal.
I urge you to take action to prohibit mining use and development on conservancy shorelines within
Jefferson County, consistent with the action already taken by Kitsap County for their conservancy
shorelines, including Hood Canal. This prohibition should include conveyors, piers and barge
loading structures, and shoreline mining activities should be restricted to well-defined high
intensity shoreline zones only. All such activities should be prohibited on any Jefferson County
shoreline on the Hood Canal.
Thank you for your consideration.
