Subject: Jefferson County Shoreline Master Plan
Dear Planning Commission,
We do not understand why the current version of the subject plan even considers
allowing actions that could adversely affect our Hood Canal.
We would have expected that our public officials would have proposed a plan that
would be on the conservative side in keeping with Kitsap County that shares our
Hood Canal resource.
Changing the proposed plan has now become an uphill battle for those who want to
protect our environment. The uphill battle should be for those who stand ~profit
from mining and development activities on these shorelines!
Please modify the plan to prohibit mining use and development, including
conveyors, piers, and barge loading structures on conservancy shorelines within
Jefferson County.
