Comment I'm making the following comments regarding the proposed S.M.P. 1. I agree with the Planning Commission's decision to reduce the shoreline setback requirements. The shoreline setback requirements now in effect are adequate and reasonable. 2. After reading the draft of the proposed S.M.P. I can find no science to back up many of the environmental and / or use restrictions the proposed S.M.P. places on the shoreline property owners. The current shoreline plan is more than adequate. 3. Jefferson County has already foolishly spent many hundreds of thousand tax payer dollars on a draft S.M.P. that is excessively restrictive on shoreline property owners. The current S.M.P. needs only minor updates to meet the State requirements. Please stop wasting our tax dollars on this when there are so many other project in Jefferson County that could use these funds. 4. If the proposed draft S.M.P. is enacted I'm sure Jefferson County will spend hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions of dollars defending the S.M.P. in the courts and Jefferson County will most likely end up paying the shore line property owners millions for the loss of use of their properties. Jefferson County Planning Commission and Jefferson County Commissioners please use our tax payer dollars wisely on projects and departments that will benefit all of the citizens of Jefferson County. 5. Shoreline business's and marine business's in Jefferson county are already in dire straits with the current economy. Placing additional burdens and restrictions on them will only drive them from Jefferson County. Jefferson County needs to be an attractive place to operate a business. That is how Jefferson County's economy can grow, business will die with excessive and unneeded restrictions. Sincerely Karl Jacobsen Jefferson County Shoreline Property Owner 1
