Yet on page 8-5 it states "net pen acquaculture maybe allowed with a conditional use permit. The previous shoreline plan prohibited net pens. The Hood Canal especially does not have sufficient tidal scouring for such enterprises. The reduction of the original 150 ft buffer for residential areas to a 50 ft buffer was proposed by the planning commissioner chair, Peter Downey. There was no scientific basis for the majority of the commissioners to agree to this change.
