This requirement should also carry forward to the new SMP. Incursion of the public on my tidelands escalates exponentially during the summer months and signs put up by the county would help prevent confrontations as I am not required by law to allow access across my tidelands. Additionally, the county should educate the public about tidelands; where they are and are not allowed. Perhaps a map of these areas at public access points, and available in a downloadable form? An article in The Leader would help as well. It is important to note that south Marrowstone tidelands are feeding grounds of the Black Brandt geese from December through May. These geese while not endangered, are a threatened species. This is a primary reason for protection of my tidelands, and one of the reasons signs about end of public tidelands are so important. In 2008 the county changed the "use" of south Indian Island to county parks. At that time signs should have gone up indicating where public use ended and private tidelands started. I am unable to review the current SMP at this time but I am using the old one as my reference.
