Let me comment on the proposed Shoreline Management Plan.
A proposed 150' vegetative buffer from high water on empty waterfront lots would render those
lots worthless. Worthless land would not provide any tax revenue for Jefferson county. A lot has
to be buildable or it becomes worthless. I would bet that there would be very few lots with more
than enough depth to accommodate a 150' set-back.
We don't have that many fires in Jeffco, but a fire that destroyed over 75% of a waterfront
property would then render that lot worthless. The owner would then have a worthless lot and a
very big financial hit besides. Our property values would also take a hit if this proposal were to
become the law. Would you buy a property with that sword hanging over your head?
Who on earth dreamed up theses proposals? This is insanity.
