Hi county commissioners,
I attended today's hearing on the creation of the transportation benefit district and I have to tell you I am not impressed with the process.
It was apparent to me, and everyone I spoke with after the meeting, that you commissioners had your minds made up before the hearing and decided to create this new taxing district.
The hearing was a dog and pony show.
I am sympathetic to the funding shortfalls of the road maintenance program. You have funding streams in place now for road maintenance.
Those of us who opposed this new taxing district are asking you to work those streams and do the hard work, taking the funding needs before the voters to approve additional funding for
road maintenence.
Your approval of this new taxing district shows your disregard for the input of county citizens and that you're taking the lazy route to tax us.
