Please provide a brief background sketch including job experience, education, skills,
hobbies and special areas of interest:
Hi there!
My name is Jaime Duyck (pronounced DIKE) and I'm thrilled to apply to serve another term
on the Climate Action Committee. It has been a pleasure to collaborate, educate, and share
in responsibilities and goals with my colleagues and community and would love to continue
being of support and service to hit our climate goals.
A bit about me:
I grew up 30 miles west of Portland, Oregon in a small town called North Plains. I was born
into an agricultural farming family, where my first job was picking blueberries - one of
many farming jobs I performed each and every summer when I wasn't in School. In
addition to School and Farming, my core outlet was playing basketball. I still love shooting
hoops! Regarding education, I hold a GED and did not have the opportunity to pursue higher
education.
I actually discovered my passion for Technology and Consultation when I was 19 years old,
and
spent (7) years in the I.T. (Information Technology) Hardware & Software industry where I
helped businesses, schools, and governments adopt new technology solutions
and established myself as an expert in the industry.
I found myself ready for another challenge - I wanted to leverage my I.T. Hardware &
Software background to bridge a career in Sustainability. In 2015 I jumped feet first into my
new passion and current career in electric mobility - specifically, EV's (electric vehicles), EV
charging, infrastructure, and maintenance.
From 2015-2020 I was the Director of Sales at EV Connect, where I lead the deployment of
more than 5,000 charging stations across the U.S.
From 2020 - 2021, I started my own business, EV EQUITY where I provide guidance and
expertise to future charging station owners and operators while bringing minority businesses
into the project, increasing equity in EV projects.
From 2021 to Feb 2023, I was the Chief Revenue Officer at ChargerHelp!, a Technology &
Workforce
Development company dedicated to EV charging operations and maintenance.
July 2023 to today, I work for General Motors as the West regions dedicated EV Charging
Infrastructure subject matter expert. I support Fleets in their transition to Electric Vehicles.
My hobbies include reading, writing, painting with watercolors, making soups, camping and
lodging in the forest every chance I get, and cherishing time with my partner Merilee and her
kiddo.
What problems, issues or concerns do you see facing this particular advisory board,
and how would you propose they be addressed?
My approach to tackling problems, issues, and concerns is with curiosity, respectful
conversations, and documentation.
What special skills, knowledge, or experience do you have to contribute to this
particular advisory board/committee/commission/task force?
In addition to my almost 10 years specifically in the EV industry, I have strong communication
and
collaboration skills, value moving forward as a group, and am known for being a reliable
person and colleague. I am extremely passionate about Climate Action and bring an
energetic and optimistic outlook to often tough projects or situations.
What limitations, if any, are placed on the time you would be available for meetings
and other activities? How much time are you able to devote to the duties of this
advisory board, committee, commission or task force?
I am available for meetings and extra activities (EV workgroup) as I've subscribed to thus far.
No issues.
