I am applying to Climate Action Committee I reside in Commissioner o #2
serve on: District Number: O #3
Board or Commission
Please provide a brief background sketch including education, job experience, skills, hobbies and special areas
of interest:
I have a Masters of Science in Geology and Geophysics from Louisiana State University, and a
Bachelors of Science from University of California, Santa Cruz. I worked as a scientist and researcher
for 8 years studying Antarctic climate before getting a local job in Port Townsend with Frederickson
Electric. I now work in the solar department (Cascadia Solar) and I am very passionate about
electrifying our County and expanding renewable energy access.
Organizations/Affiliations:
I am a volunteer with Local 20/20, Olympic Angeles, and a member of the Olympic Housing Trust. I
also have volunteered for two years helping organize the Connectivity Fair, primarily doing graphic
design for event advertising. I also volunteer with The Production Alliance, building community through
celebration in our lovely town!
What community activities have you participated in during the past five years?
Local 20/20, Connectivity Fair 2023 (co-organizers/graphic designer), Connectivity Fair 2024 (graphic
designer), Apple and Cider Festival (event coordinator), First Night (volunteer), Boat Yard BBQ (event
coordinator). I attend pretty much all of the fun events going on, either as a volunteer or simply just a
member of the public enjoying the event!
BOARD and COMMISSIONS VOLUNTEER APPLICATION/STATEMENT OF INTEREST Page 2
Are you serving, or have you served on any citizen advisory boards, commissions, committees or task forces? If
yes, please list board/committee names and dates served:
I have been on the CAC for 1 year (2024) and it has been a great experience thus far. I have learned a
lot about local government and key stakeholders in our region. I am part of the CAC Education and
Outreach committee, and I look forward to helping the CAC grow through effective communication and
engagement. This includes improving the website as the main public facing repository for the CAC's
work. I am also on the CAC committee advising Cascadia Consultants on comp plan updates.
Why are you applying for this appointment?
As a climate scientist turned electrification expert, I recognize the amount of work that needs to be
done to address the climate crisis. I want to help help build upon the work that the Climate Action
Committee has already done and help bring new energy to the team. I am in my early 30's, so I am
very much aware that I will be living in a world deeply impacted by climate change and I want to be part
of the solution. Aside from being passionate about climate action, I am also a dedicated science
communicator and I enjoy engaging with the public on scientific topics.
What problems, issues or concerns do you see facing this particular Task Force, and how would you propose
they be addressed?
I think a issue that the CAC (and the broader climate movement) faces is that there is simply so much
to do, and it can be overwhelming. I think this is a great time to be on the CAC for many reasons
(comp plan update for example), and there is a lot of momentum right now and its important to use our
energy and resources effectively. I think the other thing I would like to address is making CAC
meetings more inviting and accessible to the public - the verbiage and structure of meetings (which I
understand is necessary) can also be intimidating to the general public. I also suggest a year end
summary (1 pager, that is also visually pleasing with graphics) would be very useful. It would also be
good to have more ways to have members of the public give input (in addition to public comment at
What special skills, knowledge, or experience do you have to contribute to this Task Force?
I am an effective communicator and good listener. I am tech savvy and can learn things quickly, and
have experience with social media campaigns. I have a strong background in scientific and report
writing. I also work as a Solar Project Manager for a local company (Frederickson Electric/Cascadia
Solar), so I have knowledge and experience in the clean energy and electrification sector.
BOARD and COMMISSIONS VOLUNTEER APPLICATION/STATEMENT OF INTEREST Page 3
It is desirable for Advisory Board and Commission members to have a broad collective knowledge and interest
in various ethnic, religious, cultural, educational and community views. Describe your strengths in this area:
My education and employment history makes me uniquely qualified to be a part of the Climate Action
Committee, but I also am applying to this as a person who deeply and genuinely cares about helping
people and our planet. I believe that everyone in our community has a part to play in addressing
climate change. I have been a part of Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee for 3 years at my
previous job, and I am committed to helping address past inequities and continue to push for progress
on social and environmental issues.
What limitations, if any, are there on the time you would be available for meetings and other activities? How
much time are you able to devote to the duties of this Task Force?
I have attended a majority of the CAC meetings in 2024, and I can continue to do this in 2025. My work
has agreed to let me take leave-without-pay during the scheduled meeting times so I can get off work
early for them.
Additional information you would like to provide about yourself:
I am honored to have served on the CAC in 2024, and look forward to the opportunity of serving again.
Now that I have one year under my belt, I believe I am even better suited to be on the committee and
make further contributions.
I understand that this appointment will entail my attendance at meetings and participation in activities of this Task Force. All of
the information on this application is true to the best of my knowledge.
