Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) is proud to announce that we have been honored with the prestigious 2024 USDA WIC Breastfeeding Award of Excellence Gold Award. This recognition
highlights our unwavering commitment to promoting and supporting breastfeeding within our community. The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is a supplemental nutrition program
that provides essential resources to eligible families, including nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and access to nutritious foods.
The award was presented by Brittany Tybo, MHA, ALC, the Director of the Office of Nutrition Services at the Washington State Department of Health. Accepting the award on behalf of JCPH
were Denise Banker, Community Health Director, and Karen Obermeyer, WIC Coordinator. Not pictured but an integral part of the team is Idolina Cervantes, our dedicated WIC Breastfeeding
Peer Counselor.
“This award is a testament to the passion and dedication of our team in ensuring families receive the education, resources, and support they need to succeed in their breastfeeding journeys,”
said Denise Banker. “We are honored to be recognized for our efforts.”
JCPH remains committed to advancing maternal and child health by creating an environment where breastfeeding is encouraged, supported, and celebrated.
