A G R E E MEN T
This agreement ente~od into this 19th dar of August 1935 by And betweon th~ state
of W&shington, by and bhrough L. V. Murrow, Direotor ot Highways, hereinafter oalled
the State, and the County of Jefferson, a munioipal oorpotation of the State of Wash-
ington, hereinafter oalled the MuniCipality, for the pu~poso of acoomplishing a maxi-
mum employment of individuals listed as oertified relief oases in the expenditure of
~h08e tU11ds wll1eh have accrued and will accrue to the municipality from the motor
vehicl~ fund of the State of Washington for proper road purposes in such a mannaI' as to
provide a cooperative works relief program in conjunction with and supplemental to the
apportionment to the State of Washington of funds under the Emergency Relief Appropria-
tion Act, of 1935 (Publio Resolution No. 11: 74th CQP~~eBB) for the construction of h1ghe
ways, roads, and streets and the elimination of hazards at railroad grade crossines (ex-
cept within or aujauent to national forests, nation&l pa~ks, national parkways, or othor
federal reservations) under the alternate plan prescribed and in acoordanoe with the pre-
visions of the Federal Highway Act.
WHEREAS, tha state of Washington will receive and desires to expend the sum of
$3,026,161.00 of Works Program Higtlway Funds and $3,095,041~OO of Works Program Grade
Crossing Funds under the altornate plan authorized by Section 23 of the rules and reg-
ulations for Works Program Highway Projects and authorized by Seotion 22 of the rules and
regulations for Works Program Grade Crossing Projeots. and

that the State of Washington enter into a binding agreement with the Seoretary of AgrioulM

(a) To take from the relief rolls and give employment to its full. quota of individ-
