The Honorable Board ot Jefferson County C~l~iesioners met in regular aeesion on the above named date and hour with all members pre,sent: Arthur Bortln, Chainnan !iug..11 N:!.!!Mt; Mamba!' A delegation consisting ot Mr. Frank Harrie, Mr. Henningson and Mr. Parrko of 6hine called on the Board relative to fixing a number ot places on the Shine road and all'lO as to the County securing a right of way from Shine to Thorndyke Bay. A delagatton 01' W.P.A. workers consisting of Mr. Ed J. Hioks, Geo E ~icka and James Kilmer called upon the Ccxnmissioners relative to the transportation problem that confronts them in getting over to ~~e Nordland ferry and it WaS decided the County should furnish them transportation for the time being nS long as they were obliged to work at Fort Flagler. Mr. T.H.Yarr and h~r. Johnaon of Dabob apoeared before the I30ard to secure the use or the co\\nt.v scow and were referred to the Port manager, tlr. Daly. -. . .. A petition was presented O,y the Shine residents, asking for a road south along the waterfront to connect up wit.'l the proposed new ferry landing near Lofall. This matter to be taken up at a later d/lte. W.H. Carder, Supt of Pt. Tcmnsend Public schools appeared before thE> Board and asked that the Commissioners pennit the road equipnent, while it is in tcmn to grade along the bank at the High School so that some of the landSCape might be improved and allow for the proposed new Gym site. The approval of the Board WaS given and the engineer instructed to do this emall job at his convenience. Bids were received to purchase the old piling now on the tract known as the Shorty Smith ranch at Quilcene, this be;ing now only fit for '\'Iood. Tho following bid", wore received. Mr. Geo Burgett bid $20.00, H.B. Britton $7.50 and 111'. Chas McClanahan ~5.00 and accordingly Mr. Burgett was notified that upon receipt of the ~plO he would receive notice that he could remove the piling. Mr. Stillman Brown appeared before the Board and asked for a 1 Year extension on the timber purchased by him, AS he hAd been unable to get it out as Y8t and this WaS granted. Motion WaS made and seconded to accept the Fleet Ins as presented by the local insurance men consisting of Mr. Welch, Mr. Hayden, Mr. Anderson and Mr. Eisenbeis. The Board I.l.djourned to meet agaln on Wednesday, March 5th at 10 A.M. Wednesday, Harch 5th, 1941 at 10 A.M. The uoard renonvened on the above named det.a and hour with all members present. W-r. Groves of the Division of State Forestry presented a plan and map of thelogged off County land which the State proposes to t~ke over and re-fcrest and asked that the Cor.mdssioners kindly give it their careful D consideration, and advise him later as to gheir dacision . A letter wgS received from lArs, Dora Richmond relative to the Upper How road, or rather in regard to the building of !luch a road to her father's plnce, the John Huelsdol".k rnnch. The Board will visit this arAa on the:l.l' ndxt trip to the west end of tile County in April. Upon motion made and seconded it was voted to join the Puget Sound Planning Council, which had been diSCUSS3d with the Conmdssioners on Harch 4th, b'J Mr. McMillan and Mr. Bogle of the National Defense Council.
