JEFFERSON COUNTY
Monday, August 4th, 1941.
The Honorable Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session on the above named
date at the hour of 10 A.M. with all members present. Arthur C. Boren, Chainnan, Hugh Nisbet and Bertil
Kruse, members. The minuets of the July session were re~d and approved.
Mr. Pete Chatos appeared before the Board and requested a road approaoh be built to his property.

that Jefferson County' would be without the services of a Ijoctor on Auguat 1st
THEREFORE BE IT SO ORDERED that they proceed to Seattle on July 30th, 1943. and at
public expense to secure the services of a Health Officer, if possible.

Mr. Hedges and Mr. Struver of the State Tax Commission and Mr. Foster of the Attorney General's
staff appoared before the Board, Mr. Hedges asking that the N.P.P. Co mill valuation be raised in the
sum of About $270,000 and stated that if the =aise was not forthcoming that they would re-convene the
Board and asked that an answer be sent not later than the 15th of August.
Lieut. VI.L. Dewar, legal Dep't U.S.N. and G.J. Vi1J.eSYik appeared before the Boaxd inregard to
Indian Island land and the Board, after caref~l consideration, signed the f.ollowing resolution:

After a full discussion of the subject with Lieut. W.Lo Dewar, District Legal Officer, USN, it
WaS unanimously agreed by the Commissioners of Jefferson County, in regular session assembled, that all g
County lands on INDIA..l.l ISLAND shall pass to the Federal Government in their condemnat,ion action
heretofore instituted, w.lthout further compensation other than the sum, of one dollar ($1.00), save
and excep.'h that W~3$reement shall not apply to the improvements built on the Soutili four-ninths
(S 4/9~;fu"mrc'tro:zf'SiX (6), Township twenty-nine North (29N), Range 1 E., Jefferson County, Wash., by
W.G. Fenderson, compensation for said improvements to be paid directly to Mr. Fenderson, and, in the
amount heretofore set by appraisal, or this agreement shall be null and void and of no effect in any
provision whatsover.

The application of Dr. Dale Garrison for the position of Physician for the County Medical Assistance
program was considered and the Commissioners acting as the County Board of Health and Welfare
Administr,gtor, 11.1'. Miller in joint action approved the appointment of Dr. Garrison at a salary of $350
per month, effective August 1st, 1943..
'This action rescinds the appdJintment of Dr. Earl Taylor., who did not succeed in meeting the
required qUalifications. ,
Mr. E.W. Erickson, manager of the N.P.P. Co plant was nsked to appear before the uoal~ regarding the
proposed raise in valuation, asked by the Tax c~Jr.ission,
