The Board revonvened on the above named date and hour vd th all members present. Prosecutor David Rhea appeared before the Board and asked that a law trained man be appointed J/P.e.nd Mr. A. Clement Grady of this City 'WaS aPpointed to fill the unexpired term of Justice of the Paace left open by the reoent death illf Maj. Robert E. Voss. Mr. Grady is a practicing attorney and the Board feels that he is espeoially qualified for the position and wi~l render a Just service to Jefferson County. Worden (Major) Dave Sigel "" (Major) Bruce F. Griffin, USO Agency, Pt Townsend appeared before the Board and stated that the County and City could acquire a receeation building of the value of about $30,000 on Lots 2 & 4 of Bleok 42 Original Tcnmsite and also using Lots 6 & S for parkinS space. 'This is the property next to the Leader office, now used as parklng space. The County to latia6 this land to the gvvsrr.nent for: the duration oi the emergency. :M,q,tters were ca:refully gone over and the County Engineer was asked to prepare the proper fonns to acquire the building and maintainence of the sarne. Mr. Nisbet made the motion, which WaS seconded by Mr. Kruse that the County sponsor the proposed project, and the following letter WaS sent to Mr. Charles A. Hogan, USO Regional Uepresentative 660 Market St., San Francisco, Calif: Dear Sir: The Jefferson County Board of Camnissioners, as sponsor) has requested a type liD" U.S.O building from the P.W.A. through the assistAnce of the Fedel'al Secu:rity Agency representatives. Thie building will serve the recreational and'leisure time needs of the service mon in the Port Townsend area. Vie hereby request the United S$~ee Organization to staff and maintain this building. ( East Quilceno Bridge) WHEREAS it .is to the best interests of the People of Jefferson County that the East Quilcene Bridge be reconstructed, and iiHEREAS the public interests of the !'eople of Jefferson County demand the improvement, and ~1ffirnEAS the estimated cost of the project is ~6500.00 BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the East Quilcene Bridge be improved as provided under the provisions of Chapter 187, Session Laws of 1937, and Chapter 181, Session Laws of 19.39, and the sum of $6500.00 be set aside for the purposes aforesaid.
