A letter Was recei ved from Mr. Gross of the State Land off:!.cEl rell) t1 va to a
parcel of land on the Big Qui1cene River, requested put up for sA1a by a prospective
buyer and which hod been transferred to the state and in his letter Ur. Gross
stated that he thought it would be unwise to sell the Same at this time and it
wf\ s thel'ofore so ordered that the purcho ser be refundelil the depos:!. t he hs.d made.
The land in queotion WaS the SE~ of Sec 28, Twp 27 N, R 2 W. on the Big Quilcone RiverO
Mr. Dougl s of the MilWaukee land Company appeared be1'ore the Board and
requested that ~he Taxes which his company had paid on Park Take land in the West
End of the County, be returned in the amount of $1048.42 therefore the following
resolution wos sie;ned:

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS the Milwaukee Land Company did
to the Treasurer of Jefferson County, Wash.,
due, and
WHEREAS the tracts upon which the said t"xes VIers purported to be levied Viera
by a "Declaration of Take" entered in the Federal District Court at Seattle, Wash.
July 1, 1940; made the property of t.he United Stutos of America, and
VrHEREAS SAid Passing of title occured prior to the levy of 1940 taxes by
Je~feraon CQunty, W~sh1ngton, and
WHEREAS this Boa~d hos beon advised by the Prosecuting Attorney of Jefferson
County that ina~much as siad tit10 had Passed prior tv the dote of the levy of
said taxes; Jefferson County could not possible collect taxes and that any receipt
of Same bJ any officer of said county would be unlawful and beyond his powevs and
give ris6 to a good claim against said county in befluld of said Company,
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED A~ID ORDERED that the Auditor of Jefferson County, Wash.;
BhalJ. draW a warrant in favor of' said Milw..,ukeo Land Company in the amount of $1048.42
and that the Treasurer of Jefferson County shall duly pay seme upon submission to him.
