Mr. Hen~r rOS3 met with the members of the Board relative to the Portage Canal Bridge. Orvi 10 Sund WU8 also prosent. ~1ro. n. 8. Orsborn appeared relative to use of County Fair Grounds. Due to pormi8~ion having beon sruntod tor the Army ueep no lease can be given to Mrs. Orsborn. Mr. Joss Titt~ny, Agricultural Agent, requested an emergency budget for his office ! to complete this ;'Oor's ~xpsn8os. Norris Short, ~ Ernestine Nelson, Nordland, Mr. ': Knapp, Wm. Biohop and Stophan Bishop nppeared in the matter. No action was taken by the Board. RecGan for luncm. T. offered $70.0011 ~~~~'/Ta~g~t-I~~:S:.2Ni'~~;st ~ES~l~e~. ig; ~~~ ~a~ T lf~~r;~ M. offered j6:gg: Nip Lea - Ttix (~, 8 acres Sec. 10, Twp. 29, It 1 W., ol'fered 40.001 Leonard Poteraon Deputy Sheriff reported that four signs are needed in the west end of the County on Goodman Creek to indicate direction of accessible points on beach and highway to prevent hunters trying to get through to the ocean on Goodman Creek, which is impossible to penetrate, and has resulted in the loss of life. The Board approved the expense of providing signs which will be placed by Gene Fraker, logger. Meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. A special meeting was called for members of the Board and the Council members of the City of Port Townsend to meet with Dr. Shirley Benham, Public Health Doctor relative to the health set up for Jefferson County and the City of Port Townsend. Mayor H. E. Anderson, City Clerk Carl Cbristian, Council Members Horace Gleason, Antonio , Benedetto and Ralph Steele, Lyall Arey, Chairman and Geo. Huntingford, Board members appeared. Dr. Benham made his report as to plans for 1948. Curtailments of his office are planned and a division of duties which are necessitated by cuts in the budget. A nurse will be maintained who will communicate daily with some office for telephone requests, the Dr. to visit Port Townsend on day a week. The program as planned met with the approval of those present. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 1947. The Board met at 2:00 p.m., for the purpose of opening bids for one automobile the use of the County Engineer and one gas shovel for the Highway Department.
