Monday, March 1, 1948
The Honorable Board ot County Commissioners met in regular session at 10:00 A. M.,
with all members present.
Duane Shelby, J. T. Lay appeared relative to Chimacum - Hadlock-Irondale Fire
Protection District. No object~on8 having been entered, the matter of having a fir6
district was approved, subject to elaction of those precincts. Dave Bengtson, Gurde~
Bill and J. T. Lay were named temporary commissioners.
Mr. McClanahan appeared before the Board requesting a right of way through Lot 1
Sec. 7, Twp. 27, R 1 W. The right of way was granted.
Applications for County land were received and approved as follows:
G. F. Taylor, Aberdeen, - Nt NENE Sec. 21, Twp. 28 N., R2 W, offered $30.00.

August D. Greiner - Lots 7 & 8, Block 4, less R. R., Qui1cene,

The following applications were rejected as the prices offered were not sufficient.
Ralph J. Theriault - Lots 8 to 20 (13 lots), Block 1, Olson's Addition to
Irondale, offered ~26.00.,
E. R. Brown - Hastings 2nd Addition to Port Townsend, Lots 7 & 8, Block 21,
offered $40.00.
Mr. Steele representing Bonneville Power Administration, appeared and requested
easements for power lines on County property. Options were granted on Lot 4, Sec. 6,
Twp. 27 N., R 1 W. W. M., and Lot 4 of Sec. 6, Twp. 28 N., R 1 W., W. M. for $170.00.

A resignation from Dr. Shirley Benham, Jr., was received. He has accepted a
position as Health Officer for Bremerton-Kitsap Health District. Upon motion duly
made, seconded and carried the resignation was accepted. No appbintment has been made
to date, to fill the vacancy in the Health Office.
Keith Jones appeared before the Board and reported on road projects to be com-
pleted during 194$.
The meeting recessed at 4:00 p.m.
Tuesday, March 2, 1948.
The members of the Board 'met the Governor in Olympia and spent the day on business
concerning ,the ferry situation, at the request of th6 Governor.
Wednesday, March 3, 1948.
The Board met at 10:00 A. M. Mrs. B. M. Olson representing Shine-Gamble Ferry
appeared before the Board relative to her ferry service.
Mr. Harold representing Aerial Survey appeared with Coun~ Assessor relative to
surveying the County by air. The matter will be taken under advisement.

Resolution No. 0-42 relative to a fire pUDtection system was signed by the
Board as follows:
RESOLUTION NO. 0-42.
WHI!;H!!;AS, residents of Chimacurn and 'vicinity have legally filed a petition for the
formation of a fire protection district, as authorized under and by virtue of the laws
of the State of Wnshington, pursuant to Remington's Revised Statutes, Section 5654-101
at flOq, and
WHEREZS upon a hearing of said potition no objections to the same were made
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the formation of said fire protection district
will be condusive to the public safety, welfare and convenience
NOW) THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said petition for the formation of said fire
protection district be and is hereby found favorable by the Board of County Commissioners
of Jefferson County
BE IT FURTHER hESOLVED that the name of said fire protection district shall be
Jefferson County Fire Protection District No.1, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the boundariae of said fire protection shall be and
