' Mr. Harold Brown ccnferred \'lith the Board on timber crulaing in the County.
The Board considered tho matter of insurance on the floet of cars and ti'UC~S
belonging to the County and voted to continue the procedure of rotating the. pol1 cies
between the four local companies} and it was decided this year'S policy to be given to
Klasell Insurance Agency.

Hufford Wid the Board of County Commissioners. After duly considering the matter of
an appointment of a health officer} a motion was made, seconded and carried that Dr. II
Plut be appointed as temporary heaLth officer to act until a pennanent appointment can i
be made. The Board will meet with the Port Townsend City Council on Tuesday, March l6h'l!
to plan on the amount of salary to be paid. II

and conferred on road problems. II

The Board met in special session. Mr. I. D. lBirse, appeared relative to chartering II
ferries for Port Tmmsend run with the Puget Sound Navigation Company. A. Clemens Grady I,
appeared. W. J. Daly appeared representing the Public and inquired of Mr. Birse whether 1,1
or not his principal as of today, was financially responsible, whereupon Yl1'. Birse II
answered in the affirmative. Prosecuting Attorney Grady advised the Board to sign the Ii
Boat contract, and operating Agreement with the Puget 30und Navigation Company, and 'I

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by' the BOll,r.d of County Commissionoro of Jeffarson II
County that operating agreement and Bare Boat Charter Agreement both of which are hereto Ii
attached to be executed and entered into according to the terms thereof by and between ~
the Puget Sound Navigation Company and Jefferson County, a plJl1tical subdivision of the
State of Washington.

Afterconferring with several taxpayers the Board adjourned at 3:30 p.m., to meet
again in special session, March 11th.

RESOLUTION NO. C-47
vnffiREAS, no certificated carrier or carriers are now operating ferries or other
adequate transportation between Port Ludlow and Edmonds heretofore existing, and
WHEREAS, the Public necessity now requires the establishment and maintenance of
adequate ferry service in the interest of Commerce and Public Welfare
WHEREAS, the Puget Sound Navigation Company will execute a satisfactory Bare Boat
Charter Agreement and Operating Agreement making the said ferry service available, and
WHEREAS, an Emergency exists.
