HomeMy WebLinkAbout0812 I I I I COMlVUSSIONERS' PROCEEDINGS--N JEFFERSON COUNTY, WASHINGTON ~ ~ Tuesday, September 7, 1948. \( The Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session this date, with all members in attendance. Mr. W. J. Daly appeared with residents of Brinnon relative to vacation of the road on the old Stat~ Highway at Pleasant Harbor. An objection to the vacation was entered by latter from the Port Commission. It was agreed to vacate the County road from , Station 6700 to the E. line of Government Lot 3, Section l~, Township 25, Range 2 W. W.N. A motion was made by Geo. Huntingford and seconded by Tom Mllroy, that the vacation of the portion above described be granted. Motion carried. The minutes of the last regular meeting of the Board were read and approved as read~ Mr. Otto Beck and Mr~ Jay F. Gra~t, District Ranger from Quilcene: appeared ~elativ~ to an exchange of land with the Forest Department, and Mr. Beck in the Olympic National; Forest. The Board approved the exchange. The land is'in Sec. 33, and Sec. 34, and the :: land to be given the Beck Eros. Logging Company is in Secs. 31 and 32, R 2 W. W. M. Mr. Grant also requested approval of an exchange of land between the Forest Depal't-: ment and Rayonier, Inc., the land being in Secs. 33 and 34 and to be exchanged for land in Secs. 21 and 32, R 2 W., W. M. The Board approved the exchange. , Mr. S. V. Peach, Treasurer appeared and the Board signed a Cancellation of Contract" with Bert Kilmer, for Contract No. 458, which is delinquent for more than two years. This was done upon motion duly made, seconded and carried. Mr. Hector Munn appeared with request to vacate land in Quilcene for a Fair Grounds The matter was continued for advice from the Prosecuting Attorney. Applications for liquor licenses for Hamilton'S, Clearwater, The Maples Grocery, Brinnon, Upper Hoh Store, Forks, and Pyatt's Quilcene, were approved by the Board. Licenses were also approved for Valley Tavern, Chima cum, Whistling Oyster, Quilcena, Chase's Four Corners Grocery, Port Townsend, and Discovery Bay Tavern, Port Townsend. , A report was received from the Puget Sound Navigation Company on the Edmonds-Ludlow:[ Ferry for June, showing $15,892.42 as net profit for that period. A report for the montq of July, 1948 showed a profit of $29,405.00 for that period. .1 An application was made by V. W. Miller for Lots 1 to 16, and 18 to 32, Block 38, Eisenbeis Addition, and Lots 1 to 7 and 10 to 32 Block 49, Eisenbeis Addition, offered ,$100.00. The application was approved. Recess at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 8, 1948. The Board met at 10:00 A. M. A delegation of Nordland residents appeared before the Board and the Board of Port aommissioners. The residents of Nordland requested the ferry to operate until midnight each night. After much discussion it was agreed for the County to put one man on the run and the Port Commission agreed to put one man on also, which will allow the ferry to run until 12 p.m. each day for the balance of the year. , A seven day run is contemplated if it can be worked out financially. The Board met at 3:00 p.m., ~~th representatives of Pen Ply Corporation and the Union Oil Company, requesting the County to assist in building roads in the Hoh District. The Board agreed to maintain a road that might be built by the interested companies. Recess at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 1948. The Board met at 10:00 A.
