HomeMy WebLinkAbout0862 COMMISSIONERS' PROCEEDINGS-N JEFFERSON COUNTY, WASHINGTON I Monday, August 1, 1949. The Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met at 10:00 A. M. with all members of the Board present. Minutes of the last regular meElting were read and approved as road. Stillman C. Brown appeared before the Board over a disputed road at Fail'ii1oun~.. The Prosecuting Attorney and the Engineer will proceed to view the road and a dec~s~on will be given in tile matter. A report from the Puglt Sound Navigation Company tor the month 01' May, 1949, shows profit on the Edmonds-Port Ludlow ferry of ,10,970.62. Mr. Don Peebles appeared b8tO~8 ~hu Bo~d r~p~esenting Columbia Equipment Co. Mr. Ralph ~ernan appeared representing Howard-Cooper Corporation. A request was made by the Brinnon School tor some old light fixtures not in use in the Court House. The request was granted. Mr. George Greene from the Health Department appeared and requested that the City Garbage Dump be posted so that residents could dump rubbish and not leave same on the roadsides. Chairman Lyall Arey signed the contract for Indian Service nursing care in the West End of theCounty. Tuesday, August 2, 1949. I The Board met at 1(;:00 A. M. It was moved by James C. Yarr and seconded by Tom Milroy that :parld B0ngteon and Gurden Bill are appointed fire commissioners for Jefferson County Fire District No.1, to assist J. T. Lay, elected at the last election. Mr. A. Clemens Grady appeared with Mr. and Mrs. A. R. McWain relative to the road in dispute at Fairmount. Stillman C. Brown was also present. The Pro secuting Attorney advised that the matter be token up in a legal manner and that the Board take no action in the matter as proof of its being a County road is not definite. Upon this advice, the Board took no action in the matter. i-u's. Emily Robison appeared before the Board presenting an application for land which has been dedicated as a Community Park at Jackson's Cove. This application was rejedted as the property is not for sale. A contract was signed by the Board approved by the Superior Court Judge allowinm $75.00 for Gordon S. Clinton, attorney, who acted as Prosecuting Attorney in the case of the State of Washington vs. Olaf Tjemsland. An order 01' sale was signed by the Board for Lots 5,6,7 42,43 of Block 14 of the Original Townsite of Irondale. This property is to be sold by the Treasurer on August 20th at 10:00 A. M. I Wednesday, August 3, 1949. The Board met at 10:00 A. M. A request was received from the Port Townsend Flying Club for permission to land planes on County property in the swamp adjacent to East Lawrence St. between Kearney St. and Thayer St. Upon motion made by Tom Milroy, seconded by James Yarr, the motion carried and the permission was granted. Mr. Charles W. Miller, Welfare Administrator, appeared relative to hours observed by Welfare Departments with offices in Court Houses in various Counties of the State. When further replies are received from questionaires sent out by ,Mr. Miller, another ~cport will bo made to the Board. Thursday, Auguot 4, 1949.
