The Honorable Board o~ Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session
at the Court House at 10:00 A.M.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approv~d as read.
Residents from Nordland Mr. aHmxMKs. Fred Paddock Roy Freeman, Roy Nordby and ot~erB
appeared requesting information on the Portage Canal Br:1dse. The matter of financing I!
will make it necessary for the proposition of having a bond issue for $150,000 placed o~
the ballot at the general election. If the Government does not assist in 'the matter, :;
the County can handle the cost if the bond issue carries. The Board received a letter ;!
from Congressman Henry Jackson stating the bill for constructing the Portage Canal Brid~e
had been introduced in Congress. ':

A petitton was received from residents of the Camp Discovery Road on the Coyle
Peninsula re4.uesting the County to maintain their road 3/4 mile in length. The matter
will be taken under advisement. ,

County Auditor reported on the petition for Jefferson County Fire Protection
No.2, comprising the Four corners District in the Woodman Precinct. The
number of registered voters signed the petition. The Board fixed the Gate of
6th for the hearing on same.

The Board received a latter from Quilcene Grange #1109 informing them that organiz~~ion
backing the Leland residents in their request for an improved road up the Leland Hi]l.
matter was referred to the County Engineer. ii
