Monday, June 4, 1951.
The Honorable Board met at 10:00 a. M., with all members present.
The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved as read.
Mr. Wm. Hiller appeared and filed a plat of Hiller's Waterfront Tracts, Oak Bay,
which was approved by the Board.
A report i...as received from the Puget Sound Navigation Company, for ~larch, 1951,
on the South Point-Lofall ferry, showing a profit of $2,061.32 for that month.
An application for county land wau received from Lawrence B. Coulter, for Lots 19-
24, Block 25, Irondale. Offered $30.00. Application approved.
An offer of $707.25 from the Pacific Indemnity Insurance Company was made for damage
done to a County truck by a driver of a truck owned by Mart & Bean, loggers. Upon motion
made by James Yarr, seconded by Berti1 Kruse, the amount was accepted for damages, in
the matter.
Engineer Keith Jones reported on the matter of domestic watersupply of Paul Kehrer.
Due to the fill on the County road, drainage of mud and dirt has damaged his water supply.
The balance of the Federal Forest money was recei ved and upon order of the Board will
be divided in the same percentages as the first payment, half to the Co J.nty Road Fund,
and half to the schools in their proportionate shares.
A letter was received from the V. F. W., Post #3213 of Quilcene requesting additional
money to be budgeted for rent for 1952. $lRO.OO is the full amount allowed by law for
this purpose and the Current Expense Fund has nothing available for budgeting this
account.

The members of the Board attended the State meeting of County Commissioners
at Spokane, Washington.
June lR, 1951.
The Board met in regular session with all members present.
It being the time advertised for hearing the petition of Andrew Johnson and ten
other freeholders for vaca~ing roads in Junction City, Mr. Tracy Williams presenUrlthe
matter to the Board and represented the petitioners.
Mr. Robert Fuller representing Crown Zellerbach Corporation, re~lffisted that fire
protection be granted as the Cor~oration owns sections of land adjoining that of
peti tioners.
Fire Wardens Ray ,.,rard and Jack Neudorfer appeared and Mr. Andrew Johnson assured them
the fire wardens could put their own lock on a gate so they could enter at all times.
Mr. Johnson sai d he would not keep the road up as a public road, but 'toDuld grant entry
in case of necessity for fire protection. The Fire vlardens may keep the road open for
fire protection only.
James Yarr made a motion to vacate the roads, seconded by Bertil Kruse, Motion carried.
The Order of Vacation was signed by the Board, as follows:

This matter came on to be heard this day upon the application of Andrew L. Johnson
and nine other freeholders, for an order
VACATING:
That portion of the old county road commencing at the northerly Emits of
Junction City in Section 13, Township 29 North, Range 2 W. W. M., Jefferson
County, Washington, and extending in a northwesterly direction through
Sections 13, 14 and 11, XnxaxRMXXkwnKK~X~U of said Township and Range,
to a point where said road intersects the northerly bound8ry of SW~ of SEk
of SE~ of said Section 11.
and it appearing to the Board or County Commissioners for Jefferson County, that notice
of the hearing on said application was given by posting for the time and in the manner
provided by law; and noti ce being also published in manner and time as required by law;
no person or persons appe<lring to object, and said petitioners all being freoholders
as required by law; the county engineer huvinG in his report recommended vacatlnn of
aforesaid portion of c01mty road; and the Board of County Commissioners being satisfied
that all requirements have been met, now, therefore,
it is by the BOARD OF COUN'l'Y C01OOSSIONERS FOR JEF~'ERSON COUNTY, W ASI-lINGTON, in regular
seasion assembled,
ORDERED:
