Friday, June 5, 1953. The Board met at 10:00 A. M., with all members present. Ben Gilbert appeared and requested information on County owned land upon which he desired to place a bid. Upon discussion concerning an oil distributor, the Board felt the County is in need of such equipment. A motion made by George Huntingford, seconded by Bertil Kruse and carried, directed the Engineer to prepaire specifications for call for bids on same in the near future. Recess a~ 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 15, 1953. The Board met in regular session at 10:00 A. M., with all members present. Ben W. Gilbert appeared and entered an application for the following County land, which was approved: Hastings 2nd, Lots 1-4, Block 23 offered $100.00 Tideland Dist. 11 - Lots 1 -4, Biock 26, offered $100.00. Regarding the construction work on the Chimacum Road, an agreement with State Dept. of Highways for Federal Aid Funds was signed, and Resolution No. C-206, was signed as follows: RESOLUTION NO. C-206~ ~mEREAS, the Department of Highways of the State of Washington, acting as Agent of and for the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Commerce of the United States of America, is desirous of constructing a Federal Aid Project, No. _____ in Jefferson County, over and across North West i of Section 14j South West k of Section 11j South East ~ of Section 10j North East k of Section 10i · South East k of Section 3; North East k of Section 3j North East k, North West k of Section 3; all in Town- ship 29 North, Range 1 West, Willamette Meridian. South East ~, South West i of Section 34, Township 30 North, Range 1 West, Willamette Meridian. and WHEREAS, the Department of Highways of the State of Washington, acting as Agent for the United States Bureau of Public Roads, is desirous of receiving Federal Funds for the improvement of said road, and WHER&AS, the said Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Commerce of the United States of America will not participate in the construction of said road until and unless the County of Jefferson will agree to refrain from permitting encroachment upon the ri~lt of way of said above-mentioned road, and until and unless the County of Jefferson ~rlll agree to refrain from passing resolutions affecting the free flow of traffic on said above-mentioned road or that will give preference to local routes which intersect with said road, other than by the erection or inst11ation of "slow" and/or "caution" signs or signals, or that will unreasonably hinder or delay traffic on said above-mentioned road, and until and unless the County of Jefferson will agree, by suitable resolution, to adopt the grades of the improvement as the grades of the county road that is involved. arld agree to protect the State of Washington against any and all claims for damages on account of any changes of grades and the construction of this improve- ment, and until and unless the County of Jefferson will agree to maintain said improve- ment within the limits of the County of Jefferson after the improvement has been completed; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of JEFFERSON County that for and in consideration of the Department of Highways of the State of Washington and the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Commerce of the United States of America constructing said road and routing traffic on same over and across North West; of Soction l4j South West ~ of Section 11; North West e of Section 11j South East t of Section 10j North East; of Section 10j South East k of Section 3; North East ~ of Section )j North East ;, North West t of Section )j all in Township 29 North, Range 1 West, Willamette Meridian. South East k, South West t of Section J4j Township )0 North, Range 1 West, Willamette Meridian. JEIlFERSON County hereby agrees with the Department of Highways of the State of Washington and ths Burel;\U of Publlc Roads of the Department of Commerce of the United StHtes of Amorica that it will not, in the future, permit encroachments on the right of way of the naid above-mentioned road, nor will it pass any resolutions affecting the froe flow of traffic on said above-mont-ioned road or that will give preference to local routes which intersect wi th said road} othor than by the erection or insttlllation of "slow" and/or "caution" aigna or signalS, or that will slow up unreasonably hinder, or delay traffic on said above-mentionod road, and that it will, ~y suitable resolution, adopt the grades of the improvement as the grados of the county road that is involved, and hereby agrees to protect the State of Waahington against any and all claims for damages on account of changes of grade~ and the conetruction of this improvemont, and her'eby further agrees to maintain said improvement within the limits of the County of JEFFERSON after this improvemont haB boon completed.
