Monday, July 6, 1953.
The members of the board of County Commissioners for Jefferson County, met in
regular session with all members present.
The minutes of the last regular session were read and approved as read.
A notice was received from the Washington State Liquor Control Board, notifying
the Board that Quilcene Trading Company, Quilcene, has discontinued operations at
Qul1cene and submitted the liquor license to the State of Washington.
A notice was also received that the State Liquor Control Board has disapproved the
appiication for retail bottled beer and wine license at Wilcox'S Richfield Service and
Grocery, Brinnon, Washington, due to type of business being sale of gasoline.
Mr. Roscoe Thomas appeared and presented the Board with a petition from the Qullcene
Grange urging the County to adopt a weed control program, due to the infestation of
pastures, roadsides and utility rights of ways by weeds and brush. He also requested
permission from the Board for the Jefferson County Telephone System to do spot. spraying
along the County roads on which their lines are situated. George Huntingford made a
motion seconded by Bertil Kruse to permit the Jefferson County Telephone Company to
do such spraying.
The annual report of St. John's Hospital was received and filed.
,A n9tice was received from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers notifying the Board
that a public hearing will be held in Seattle July 21, 1953 at 10:00 A. M., on the
proposed floating bridge across Hood Canal.
Due to the sudden illness of Commissioner Lyall Arey, George Huntingford was
appointed acting chairman of the Board.

Bridge ) R~blution to Repair and improve the
(County Road No. 21) ) Big quilcene Bridge.
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS that it is their
intention to Repair and improve the Big Quilcene River Bridge on County Road No. 21
by moving the bridge down stream 30 feet (approx) and replacing the approaches, deck
and stringers.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT for the foregoing proper county road purpose there is
hereby appropriated sums in tho following detail:

Tho county road p~rpose herein described is HEREBY DECLARED to be a public necessity
and the County Road Engineer is HEREBY ORDERED DND AUTHORIZED to report and proceed thereon
as by law provided.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this purpose be performed by Da,y Labor in accordanco
tdth the Standard Road and Bridge Specifications of the State of Washington as adopted
by this Board.
