d8fray the costs incurred ih the per~ormance of the aforesaid requested work, and upon
notice to said auditor from the Director of Highways that such work has been compieted,
payment made therefor, and that Jefferson County has been furnished a statement of cost
of all labor, equipment, material, supplies and engineering, the State Auditor is further
authorized and directed to release, to JEFFERSON County, any unexpended balance of the
amount reserved by this resolution.

The Bond in amount of $2500.00 for Keith Jones, Engineer, was approved by the Board.
The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved as read.
$500;00 was offered by Max Plattner for pin-ball licenses for 1954 in Jefferson County.
Upon motion made by Bertil Kruse, seconded by George Huntingford, the amount was accepted
by the Board and license granted.

A land application was approved for Alfred C. Smith for NWNENE, Sec. 14, T. 29, R 1
W., offered $30:00.
The cash was counted in the Treasurer's office and the amount of $565.11 was found to
be correct for cash in the office. The report was signed showing cash on hand Dec. 31,
1953 as $3,657.02.
The Board members proceeded to the County Jail for inspection.
Recess at 4:00 p.m.
Monday, January 18, 1954.
The members of the Board met in regular session at 10:00 A. M., with all present.
The Youth Center Bldg., in the County Park at Quilcene was insured for $5,000.00 for
fire.
A motion was made by George Huntingford, seconded by Bertil Kruse, that a Littleford,
Model HVC Spray King Distributor be purchased from Feenaughty Machinery Company for
$4,983.00, plus sales tax. This was the low bid received. Motion carried.
Resolution No. C-226 was signed for construction of roads in Jefferson County, as
follows:
RESOLUTION NO. C-226.
WHEREAS, the Department of Highways of the State of 'W'ash~ngton, acting as Agent of
and for the Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Commerce of the United States of
America, is desirous of constructing a Federal Aid Project, No. 3-0322 (2) in Jefferson
County, over and across

the NW~ of Section 34, Township 30 North, Range 1 West, W. M.
The SE~ of the NEi, Tax Nos. 1. and 4, Gov't. Lot l, Tax No.3 and the County
Airport in Section 33, Township 30 North, Range 1 l'lest, W. M.
County Airport, Gov't. Lots 4 and 3, Tax No.3, the NEt. of the SWk! the SE~
of the NWk}. the NEt of the NW~ and the NWt of the NW~ in Section 28, Township
30 North, Hange 1. West, W. M.

WHEREAS, the Department of Highways of the Sta te of Washington, acting as Agent
for the United States Bureau of Public Roads, is desirou s of recei ving Federal Funds for
the improvement of said road, and
WHEREAS, the said Bureau of Public Roads of the Department of Comma rce of the United
States of Ameri ca will not parti cipate in the construction of said road unti 1. and unle ss
the County of Jefferson will agree to refrain from permit.t:l,ng encroachment upon the right.
of way of said above-mentioned 1'0 ad, and until Elnd unless the County of Jefferson will
agree to refrai n f rom passing resolutiono affecti ng the free n ow of traffi c on said
above-mentioned road or that will give preference to local routes which intersect with
said 1"oad, other than by the erection or installation of "slow" and/or "caution" signs
or signalo, or that will unreasonably hinder or delay trafllc on said above-mentioned road,
and until and unless the County of Jefferson will agree, by suitable resolution, to adopt
tho grades of the improvement as the grades of the county road that is involved, and agree
to protect the State of Wannington against any and all claims for damages on account of
any changes of grades and the construction of this improvemont, and until and unless tho
County o~ Jofferoon will agreo to maintain said improvement within the limits of the County
ot JQfforson after the improvement han been completedj
