Any person knowlingly swearing falsely to any statement of any material matter in such affidavit shall, upon conviction thereof, in addition to any penalty imposed by the laws of the State of Washington, be fined not less than one hundred nor more than five hundred dollars. I SECTIUN X. The tax imposed hereunder shall become due and payable immediately at the time of sale, and, if not so paid within thirty days thereafter, shall bear interest and penalty at the rate of one per cent per month from date of sale, which interest and penalty shall be added to the tax and likewise bear interest and penalty thereafter. SEC1'ION XI The proceeds of the tax imposed hereunder shall be credited to the county school fund monthly for distribution to the school districts entitled thereto, PROVIDED; That one per cent of the proceeds of this tax shall be credited to the County Current Expense Fund, out of which all cost and expense of administering this ordinance, including cost of printing stamps and forms of affidavits and receipts and other forms which may be neeessary shall be paid. SECTION XII This ordinance is deemed severable and any declaration by any court that any section or sections, or portions thereof, are invalid, shall have no effect on the remainder of this ordinance. SECTION XIII I This ordinance is necessary for the immediate support of county government and its existing public institutions and shall take effect May 1, 1955, and shall remain in effect until and including May 1, 1956. GEORGE HUNTINGFORD Member--- ---- BER'l'IL KRUSE Member- ---- Relative to damage occurring on the Clearwater Bridge by logging trucks, a letter was received from Bay City Lumber Company of Aberdeen advising the Engineer that the repairs will be paid for by the loggers using the bridge with Bay City Lumber Company collecting from all interested parties and remitting ~Dme to the County. A delegation of residents appeared for the purpose of requesting a Home Demonstration Agent for the County. Mrs. Bertie Bailey represented the group and petitions from Quilcene Leland, Dabob, Gardiner, Coyle were presented. Mrs. Wiley Magee, Mrs. Drake, Mr. Oliver Orr, County Agent, Mrs. Ina Major, Mrs. Doris Beck, Mrs. Ethel Mahone, Mrs. Hilson and Mrs. Ward Williams were present and spoke in behalf of a home demonstration agent. Mr. Orr advised the Board on the cost of an agent. ($500.00 salary, $700.00 travel expens8) , from Nuly 1, 1955 to December 31, 1955. It would entail an inerecwe of $2700 over the 'present County Agent's budget. Commissioner Arey explained the condition of the Current Expense Fund and the difficulty of operating on the 11mi ted funds. Consideration will be given the matter if funds warrant it in the future. The Board approved the transfer of the BCEFliquor license from Lillian r'l. Balcom to Ckasz:xi Chester I. Northup, Mildred L. Northup, Archie C. Thomas and Winifred I. Thomas, d/b/a Discovery Bay Tavern, Star Route 2, Port Townsend. The Minutes of the last regular meeting of the Board were read and approved as read.. BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Jefferson County deems it necossary to construct rock rip-rap bank protection and other work along the Big Quilcene River in Section 24, Township 27 North, Range 2 West, W. M.
