The Honorable Board met this date with all members present.
Mr. T. B. Balch appeared and filed a petition for vacation of that part of County
Road No. 147 lying within Lot 3, Sec. 15 T. 25 N R2 W WM., being a part of the old
Olympic Highway which has been replaced by a new State Highway in 1931. The Board
accepted the petition upon motion made by Bertil Kruse, seconded by George Huntingford
and ordered Engineer Jones to make a report on May 16th and set the da~ of hearing on
said petition, June/8, 1955 at 10:00 A. M.
The Engineer reported work is progressing very well on the Huelsdonk Bridee in the
West end of the County.
Regarding the repairs to the Clearwater Bridge, Resoluction No. c-266 was signed
to request the State of Washington Bridge Dept. to perform the work at County Expense:
Resolution No. c-266.
WHEREAS, the Clearwater Bridge across the Queets River has been hit by high loads
causing the bending of the sway braces between the trusses,and these braces are in need
of immediate repair and,
WHEREAS, Jefferson County has no equipment or men skilled in this type of work,
THEREFORE be it resolved that the State of Washington Bridge Department be reguested
to make these repairs and they be authorized to bill Jefferson County Road Department
for all costs incurred by making these repairs. The bills are to be paid from monies
set aside for this purpose by the Jefferson County Road Department.
