Tuesday, July 5, 1955.
The Honorable Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session
with all members present.
'fhis being the time for opening bids for one 4 door sedan, 8 cylinder, for use of
the County Engineers' office, the following bids were received:
Buhler Motor Co., 1955 Chevrolet Net $1,099.19 including turn in.
Lafferty Motor Co., 1955 Buick Special Net $1,299.02, including turn in.
Upon motion made by George Huntingford and seconded by BertH Kruse, the bid of
Lafferty Motor' Co., was accepted in the net amount of $1,299.02. Motion unanimously
carried, as it was felt this was the best bid available.
~nutes of the last reVllar meeting were read and approved as read, and accepted by
motion made by George Huntingforfj, seconded by Bertil Kruse, motion carried.
An application was approved for sale of county land as follows:
Tony Eromino, Hastings Ave., Port Townsend,
Pettygrove's 1st, Lots 3, 5, and 7, Block 45
$30.00 ofi'ered.
Bills were examined and approved as follows:

Several county residents appeared before the Board, and discussed personal problems.

Friday, July 8, 1955.
The Honorable Board met in regular session with all members present.
A call for bids was made for clearing, grubbing and grading a nd surfacing of 1.25
miles of County Road No. 27 as set forth in plans and specif:ir.at.ions t.o ce opened Friday,
August 5, 1955 at 10:00 A. M.
Mr. Neil Fendley, representing the Teamsters' Union, appeared and the Board granted
paid holidays for road crews for Armistice Day and Washington's BirthdG,Y.
The members of the Board proceeded to the Assessor's office to sit as a Board of
Equalization.
In the afternoon, the contract work being done on the Quileene Road was inspe cted
by the Board members.

Mr. Charles W. Miller, welfare administrator, appeared relative to appointment of
a new Welfare Advisory Committee, which was appointed as follows:

A. L. TiCkner, l,. W. MUleI', W. J. Daly, Jadk Enfield, Roy Nordby, Lyall Arey, 13ertll
Kruse and George Huntingford.
A call for bids for 1500 tons of asphaltic concrete was made for Aug. 15, 10:00 A.I-1.
A reque st was received from James Sofi e, County Assessor for Erne rgency appropriat.j on,
for $600.00 for Field Deputy for three months. Upon motion ma('e by Bertil Kruse, seconded
by George Huntingford, the request was granted. The following resolution was signed:

WHEREAS, a request has been received from the Jeffer~;on County Assessor, for an
emergency appropriation in the amount of $600.00 for salary for a Field Deputy for a period
of three months for revaluation of property within the County,
AND WHEREAS 1 the Board of County Commiss:l,oners deems th is to be ne ce:JsaI'Y, !Ind in
accordance with ~hap. 251 Laws of 1955,
HEREBY GHANTS the emergency appropriation of $600.00 for the above purpose, and the
Auditor is authorized to draw warrant::: upon the Current Expense Fund for thiJt. lJmount.
