Monday, October 7, 1957.
The Honorable Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session with
all members present.
This being the time advertised for opening bid~ on the repair of the Lake Leland
Bridge, the following bids were received;
J. P. Kvinsland, Port 1ownsend,
Louis Elterich Co., P. O. Box 868 Port Angeles,
Winterburn Construction Co., port Townsend,

George Huntingford moved1 seconded by Bertil Kruse, that the bid of J. P. Kvinsland
be accepted in the amount of ~5,039.00.
Mr. S. Brainerd, Mr. Jay Oakes and Mr. Barker appeared representing the Chi.macum
Drainage District and objecten to the request of a 10 mill levy made by officers of the
District. The matter 'lias to be referred to the Drainage Distri ct for discussion.
Mr. Frank Erb, representing the Oak Bay Waterfront tracts owners, presented a
petition for daily mail delivery which necessitates road work as the road is not in
condition in the opinion of the Post Office Department. Commissioners suggested that
County Engineer make an inspection and ascertain the cost of ditching and maintaining
the road for ye~r around servi ce, and report back to the Board.
Notices were received from the State Liquor Control Board that liquor licenses
were disapproved for retail bottled beer and wine, for Neal A. Whitnack, d/b/a Whitnack
&; Whitnack, Rl, Port Townsendj and John B. \llike, Hoh River, Io'orks, Washington.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved as read.
The cash in the Treasurer's office was counted and the amount of $2,731.93 was
found to be correct. The amount of cash on hand September 30~h was sho~m as $2,448.03.
In the matter of building Fremont Street in Quilcene, the members of the Board
agreed to have the Road Department complete the street West 180 feet from Hamilton Ave.
A notice was received that liquor revenues will amount to approximately $2.41 per
capita of the rural population.
The Road Program for 1958 1'/"a5 presented by the Engineer and adopted by the Board
by motion made by George Huntingford and seconded by Bertil Kruse, as follows:
