Monday, November 4, 1957,
The members of the Board of Jefferson County Commissioners met in regular session
with all members present.
A lett.er was received from Philip W. Bailey, owner of Chevy Chase Inn, informing
the Board that the triangle in front of the Inn is now under new ol'mership and it is f
feared a vacation of the old road will be requested, which would greatly interfer-a with
access to t he Inn. The Board has no intention of vacati ng any rOads which are in
constant use in the County.
A lettier was received from Irene E. O'Connor, Secretary of the North Shore Assoc-
iation at Amanda Park, requesting that th(' Count~. refrain from deeding any delinquent
County land in the area around the Olympic National Park to the Departmentof the Interior
as they have requested. County Commisioners vOlced the opinion if any of the land so
referred to is ever taken out of the Olym~ic .'ational Park, it will not be deeded to the
Departm.mt of the Interi or. . ,
The members of the Board of County Commissioners will proceed to Olympia November
13th t.o confer with the State Land Office in the matter of the Clearwater road.

A report was received from the U. S. Department of Agriculture that the total
Federal Forest redeipts for the period ending June 30, 1957 totalled $4,705,000.00,
which is iP406,OOO.oo less than last year. No divis~On to the Counties has been made as yet.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and approved as read.
Bills were examined and approved as follows:
Current Expense Fund $ 9,016.79
County Roads 35,433.76
Tuberculosis Hospitalization 868.00
Fire Pro. District #1, 45.49
A letter was received from James R. Riley, Bremerton, reque sting gravelline and
road work on a road on his property, Lot 1 & SE~ of SW~ Sec. 22, T. 26, R 1 W., on tile
Toandos Peninsula. Upon examination this was found to be on private property and not a
County road, so this request cannot be complied with.
Mr. Ronald Wilder, County Engineer, reported on the Oak Bay road to comply with mail
delivery requirements. This matter was taken un6er advisement.
A call for bids was made for 1 dump truck, to be opened B.t U:(JO A. M., November 18,
19)7, for use of road crews in the West end of the Count)'.
