Friday, September 5, 1958.
The Honorable Board of Jefferson County Commissloners met in regular session with
all members present.
Mr. M. D. Parrott of the P. U. D., Mason County, appeared before the Board relative
to spraying on roads up the Duckabush and Dosewa11ips Rivers~ for elimination of weeds
and brusb on sides of' roads under their pOtier lines. It wa:> agreed that a spl1ay can
be used on a certain section of these roads as a test, to ascertl:lin if they become
unsightly in the future. Mr. Wilder, County Engineer to select the test area.
This being the time advertised for a hearlng on the formation of a Fire District
in Quilcene, Brinnon and Leland areas, several resident of the area appeared, and all
things being in order, no objections having been entered, a motion was made by George
Huntingford seconded by Bertil Kruse, that a fire di:>trict will benefit these communities,
and that the District be known as Jefferson County Fire Protection District No.2, and
that the proposition of the formation of said district shall be held by special election
conducted in conjunction with the General Elect:l.on on November 4, 1958.
Mr. Phil Albohn of the State Highway Department, District Locating Engineer, appeared
relative to the road from Shine to Termination Point, Resolut:i. on No. C-373 was signed
as follows:

WHEREAS a proposed plan of access control has been prepared in accordance with the
instructions of' the Washington State Highway Commisslon for a portion of Secondary State
Hlghway No. 9-E, Shine to Termination Point; and
WHEREAS a portion or all of the proposed highway improvement lies wi thin the County
of Jefferson:
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, ln accordance \"/ith the provisions of RCW 47.52.020, that
the County of' Jefferoon, acting by and throug11 its Board of County Commissioners, does hereby
com:~nt to the establi shment of limited access on the f ollowin g descri bed portion of
Secondary State Highway No. 9-E in Jefferson County:
Beginning at a point in the NVl~SE! Sec. 32, T 28N., RIE., W.M. thence Southeasterly
to a point in the SEt SW~ Sec. 35, T 28N, RIE., W.M. (Station 0/00 to Station 156/45)
in accordance with the plant'enti tIed "Secondary State Hlghway No. 9-E, Shine to Termina-
tion Point - Plan Showing Access," Sheets 1 and 2 of' 2 sheets, approved by the Dlrector
of Higpways on Sept. 3, 1958, a print of which plan is hereto attached and made a part
of this resolution; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution shall be tran&mitted to tile
Washington State Highway Commi.sslon at Olympia, Washington.

WHEREAS, Jefferson County Flood Control Department proposes to protect the banks
of the Big Quilcene River with rip-rap to protect the county roads and adjolnlng propertle s
from floods; thereby eliminating the need of Jefferson County Road Departtllent to protect
their roads by rip-rap.
WHEREAS, the Board of' COllnty ComIllissloners for Jeffol'son County haa found and d eter-
mined that thfl sum of $12:675.00 is an estimated amount of contribu'c.ion to the cost of
the improvement and, in proport.ion to the benafits to be derived. t.herefrom,
'l'HEREFORE, pursuant to the provisions of section 85.24..240 R.C. W., the 'l'rflasurer
of Jefferson County, be and is authorized and empowered to transfflr from the COUN'l7 ROAD
FUND to the JE~'FERSON COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL ~1UND the sum of $12,675.00.
