THI: LI"CC!l...~Q_,_._ .._._ The matter of poaching cedar products and Xmas trees in the County, having been con- tinued to this date, a hearing was held in connection therewith. Mr. John Martin from the Dept. of Natural Resources appeared. Letters were read from Chimacum Grange, Roy J. Bergstrom and Port of Port 10\~send, all protesting an Ordinance prohibiting brush pickll1C;and cutting of Xmas trees. Four petitions containing signatures against same were received. Several residents of the County appeared and all voiced disapproval of the proposed Ordinanc;e. Lya14 Arey made a motion, seconded by Bertil Kruse, that the Ordinance not be adopted and that trespass vi~lations be left to the control of the Sheriff. Bertil Kruse'seconded th~~ motion. Sherlff Robert Hansen spoke and stated he would propose a motion to the Sheriff's association for consideration by the next Legislature for the control of brush picking and cutting trees and the disposition of violatlons. Mr. V~tln spoke in favor of the Ordinance and the benefits it would provide in the County on transportation of shake boards. Mr. Julian Oen appeared for the Port Commisslon regarding removing rock from the breakwater at Gardiner for a boat ramp. The permission was grated to dump rock at that site. Mrs. Lee ~. Davis appeared relative to a meeting on December 16th for review of State ferry operations. Her committee will attend the meetlng on that date. Mr. Harry A. Cotton appeared before the Board and explained a proposed plan for an addition to the boat haven and a proposed road from the boat haven to the Paper r~ll around the water. Lyall Arey made a motlon, seconded by Berti1 Kruse that the Board give their support to the Port Commismon in this matter. An application was presented by Mr. Julian Oen for the Port of Port Townsend, for County property near the boat haven. The Board agreed to sell the property to the Port for the amount of taxes due on the following property. '!he Treasurer will compute the amount due for same. Due to the proposed development of the Port of Port Townsend, the Board ha$ rejected the sale of property applied for by Will1am L. Short, Jr., - Railroad Add. (Less right of Ways) Lots 1-14 Inc. Block 34 and Lots 1-13 inc., Block 35. T~is will be deleted from the next County land sale. Resolution No. C-413 was signed as follows: i ngs .. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this purpose be performed by Contract in accordance with the Standard Road and Bridge Speclfications of the State of Washington as adopted by this Board. The r.esignation' of Ronald Wilder as Jefferson County Englneer, was tendered to the Board, arfecti~e D~cember 31, 1959, due to his having accepted a more advantageous positIon. Upon motion made by Lyall Arey, seconded by Bertll Kruse, the resignation was accepted with regrets. MI'. W. O. Passmore appeared and explained to the Board where he is planning on putting in water pipes connecting a well on his property. Perudsaion of the Board was grantod to lay pipes on the odge of Sylvan Lane. Mr. Passmore presented the Board with a gavel made trom natural cedar. The members of the Board expressed appreciation for the gift. An applic.diion Eor position of Jefferson County Engineer was made by Mr. Art Ward of Olympia. The Board took this under advisement.
