Lyall Arey moved and Berti1 Kruse seconded that an expression of thanks be given to W. J.
Daly, Prosecutlng Attorney for the fine work he did in straightening out the error made by the
Federal Government in the Federal Forest Funds, saving approximately $260,000.00 for Jefferson County~
Notice was recelved that Jefferson County's share of Federal Forest Funds will be $578,521.06
for roads and schools.
At 11: 00 A. M. bids were opened for furnishing the County with one self propelled Force Feed
Conveyor Belt Windrow Loader and the following bid was received:

Z letter was received from the Port of Port rown~end stating they will pay $120.00 per year
for rent of quarters in the Courthouse after January 1, 1960. .
An application for County real estate was approved for Harley D. Horton, Hudson Pt., Port
Lownsend, for Lots 3-8 Block 93, offered $300.00.
A letter was received from Judge Max Church stating it ls impossible to secure services of a
~ourt Reporter at the present rate of pay. $700.00 should be added to the salary to be divided
between Clallam and Jefferson Counties. Jefferson County's share will be approximately $200.00.
The Board approved same and will make an emergency Resolution providing for the additional amount.
A lease was signed with the Department of General Administratlon for the rental of the Welfare
Office for 1960 at $100.00 per month for heat, light, water and janitor service.
Upon motion of Bertil KU~se, seconded by Lp:p:ll Arey, the salaries of road crews were rasied
as follows:
County En~.neer to $650.00~' per month, Ass't. Englneer $500.00 per month, Sueerintendent
$550.00 per month, Construction Foreman $490.00 per month, Mechanlcs $400.00 and ~430.00,
Accountant $400.00 per month, Party Chief $490.00 per month, Chainmen $410.00 per month,
Laborers ~2.18 per ho~r, Truck Driver $2.32 and $2.42 per hour, Grader Operators, i2.46 per hour,
Bulldozer and Shovel operators $2.60 per hour.
A call fer bids was made for January 4t 1960 at 11:00 A. M., for a high-frequency F. M.
Communicatlon system to operate on 152-174 megacyle band. Blds'have been called previously but
no purchases made for the reason the change of frequency to 155.880 megacyles.

'rhe Honorable .Board met in regular session with all membexos present.
Mrs. Lee ~. Davia appeared and reported on the meeting of the State Ferries, which she and
Mr3. C. J. Ruedy and Mrs. W. H. Jackson attended in Seattle. 24 hour servico was promiaed on the
Winslow Ferries after' the Hood Canal Bridge is built. The Edmonds-Ki,ngston road will be kept in
servlce. Lyall Aroy moved that the~e ladies be congratulated on their interest shown :1.n the
